The Journey Home - Day 37

What a bleh day!  Guy dreich as Gordon would say.  Rain, gray, breezy and wet!  Good thing we were tired and wanted a slow morning.....that's what we got.

Once we finally started moving the serious cleaning and putting away of things that will not be used for another year began.  The kitchen, the bathroom, the vacuuming, the final packing, the emptying of the refrigerator.   Hunter came by and became the recipient of our few refrigerated leftovers:  spaghetti sauce, limes, 1/2 bottle of white wine, crackers, etc.  We had a cup of coffee with him and a good last visit.

Then we were off to Maureen's to return a book and say farewell.  We had a cup of coffee with her and a short visit before walking back into downtown, buying our Scottish calendars for 2012 and heading to the deli for a couple of little jars of Scottish "stuff" to bring home.

We finished our last minute chores and both of us laid down to read and nap.

Paul picked us up promptly at 4:00pm and we had our final look around our little Scottish abode.  Closed up, packed up and ready to sit empty for the winter.  Pictures all in place, plants by the sink, windows locked and blinds drawn, outdoor bench tucked safely in the garden shed.  Kinda sad really - the home just waits for our return.

We arrived in record time to the Marriott near the Edinburgh airport.  We think we might be a little too tired to head into town and a room service burger actually sounds good with a glass of red wine!  Jammies on and tucked in to watch a little "American" tv.

We are looking forward to being home in our own bed in our own house with a couple of kitties to pay attention to.  Looking forward to seeing our girls and being able to chat with them on the phone.  Looking forward to seeing the garden and hopefully, picking some tomatoes and maybe a zuck or two.  Looking forward to catching up with friends.  Looking forward to calling my family back east and checking in with them.

When we are in Scotland, it's like we've left the planet!  Time to journey back home.
