Wine at Midnight, Cocktails at Noon - Day 14

What do you think about lying in bed at midnight drinking white wine, eating McVities Chocolate Digestives and watching Alien 2?  We'll do whatever we have to do to get to sleep!  It was fun....and it worked!

I woke at 8:00 and went out to open the curtains, start the coffee and check out the day.  Hmmmm, overcast and pouring.  What happened to the promised beautiful weekend?  Oh well, when you travel to Scotland you must be prepared for wet weather.  Billy Connelly says - "there's no bad weather only the wrong clothing"....and we have not brought the wrong clothing so we can face whatever Scotland has to deliver.

Gordon found a Rugby match on TV and was quite content so I got after the house plants that had been neglected for a year, started the laundry and got my self ready for the day.  Just in time too because our friend Maureen called to meet her for a coffee at 11:15 at the "new place" in town Brodies Wine Bar.  They call themselves new and exciting.  I call them in need of a manager.  We weren't greeted and had to ask if we could get served.  On a scale of one to ten they lose.  We just had coffee which we had to return for being so light it was almost invisible.

Anyway it was great to spend time with Maureen and after an hour we left and went to the Bookmakers so she could place a bet on a horse and then over to the pub for a drink.  Well, ok, it's 12:30 and we're on vaca so......2 cocktails later we depart our friend after making plans to get together tomorrow at 1.  To the butcher for chicken and mince and, "oh....look at that" a Bridie and a Scotch Pie for our lunch and to the greengrocer for carrots and a turnip for Shepard's Pie which I will make this weekend.  Lunch was awesome and we added fresh bufala mozzarella with hydroponic tomatoes and basil.  Yum!  I was starving and it was 2 by now.

Later Gordon went down to the pub to watch the 3 o'clock Celtics game and I went to Lothlorian, our local antique dealer, to look for Christmas presents for our girls.  (Girls, spoiler alert!) We always find the most exquisite jewelry pieces for our spoiled babies and I was not disappointed today!

Back home we did a little yard work, sat briefly outdoors sipping a glass of French Chablis and prepared a delicious meal of lemon sole cooked in the Sole Meuniere style with leftover potatoes and french style green beans.

Then I baked a lemon pound cake for our "meet up" with Maureen and her family; FB chatted Alison and Skyped Natty.  Doesn't seem like we did that much today but I'm beat.  Ready for a bath and a read of my book.....5th book - Game of Thrones!

Hope all is well on your continent!   ...p.s. think I ruined the pound cake.  Fahrenheit to Celsius conversion is something I just don't get and I'm not convinced that the oven is calibrated....I'll let ya know.
