La Tour Eiffel or La Dame De Fer (The Iron Lady) - Evening Day 30

After our rest earlier today Gordon and I showered and changed and headed back out into the early evening to take a boat cruise on the Seine.  We were fortunate enough to catch another beautiful sky and to see the Eiffel Tower glittering with thousands (20,000 to be exact) of flashing bulbs.  The Tower is truly an awesome sight and I just can't stop taking pictures of it.

We went on our cruise (it was packed!) and even though there were lots of people on the boat it was still fun to see the city from the perspective of the river.  The "Pont Nuef" (bridge) spanning the Seine was built in 1609! and is still being used!  Incredible. The boat played lots of French music and songs and it was quite romantic despite the 298 other people on board the "barge".
Beautiful evening sky.

The sparkling, flashing lights are only on for 5 minutes every hour.  A "green" initiative!

This is how it's lit all the rest of the time.

I managed to save us from eating another meal when we got off the boat.  It was 10:00pm when we made it back to land and we hadn't eaten since our mussels earlier in the day.  Gordon was cruising for something quick. Quick equals fattening usually!  He was eying a Gyro stand which, to me, looked like congealed fat on a stick!  I'm sure it would have been delicious but needless calories, so we steered clear.

We are already talking about and planning at how we are going to come off vacation and get back into reality!  Dining out; pubs with beer and restaurants with Rose' have to be a thing of the past.  And, even though we've been walking alot......it's not a substitute for real working out.

But I just can't think about that now.  "I'll just think about that tomorrow....at Tara."
